INTRO.
We really are starting off this feature thing with a bang, that’s for sure. We are excited to share with you one of the Pacific Northwest’s greatest: a 2001 Acura Integra GS-R, and its original owner, Terry Suvonnarith. That’s right, original owner, purchased when he was at the age of 19. If you do the math, what we have here is the accumulation of 23 years of dedication and maturation. It’s a privilege that he is trusting us to present his technical and creative masterpiece, because that’s really what it is, a masterpiece. We gravitate towards certain ethos and design philosophies: those that are thoughtful, sound, and are executed in a way that seamlessly blends function and form. And, well, the design needs to be cool, too. Like really cool. In the case of Terry’s build, all of that is accomplished at a high level.
I.
We were first introduced to his car at a Wekfest Seattle event, several
years ago. When he recently agreed to allow us to feature the car, we were
pretty stoked. We drove nearly four hours north to the Seattle metro area,
where we were chauffeured around by a local friend who lives there
(thanks, Rainier). We had no set shoot location, being unfamiliar with the
area, so the whole approach was fluid, organic, and a little bit frantic.
And then we had to shut it down early because it started snowing! Beyond
the photos, we also had the opportunity to sit down with Terry to
pick his brain about his build, and it sure was a lot of fun.

II.
Over the span of nearly three decades in the industry we’ve come
across a lot of cars, and their respective owners, too. It’s hard to
find an enthusiast like Terry who is equally in love with the
evolving process that comes with building a car of this caliber, as
they are with the final results. For him, it’s never quite final.

Influenced at a young age by older friends and family, his first car love was for low riders. What he didn’t know then was that the interest that he later took in the Integra, his first car, would provide him with the experiences that would eventually introduce him to what he now calls his extended family, other enthusiasts who share the same passion with him.IV.
During the earlier stages of the build, like for many of us, experience
and budget played a significant role in how the car was put together,
including aesthetic, part choices, functionality, etc. Taking the
learnings from various stages, particularly challenging ones, he’s more
focused on honing in the details now. As he continues to mold the
vehicle into what has become a progressive vision, his decision making
has matured, too. And with that experience, he leaves us with a
